and if I listen with my heart, I hear the Savior's voice."

It helps to reminisce about all the good memories...

So in looking back over the seasons and months gone by, my heart is heavy with feelings of gratitude, grief, some joy, some more grief,... but ya know as cliche as it may seem, mostly love. I love my Savior and Friend. The awful pain of separation & death loses its sting as I strive to be more obedient. I can be sad for a season but ultimately I know that I can someday see & embrace my loved ones.

Dear Cannon- Gibson & Lennox sure love and miss their big brave cousin. You boys will get your full playtime, it will be so fun!

Dear Moby- be a good dog for Cannon.We love and miss you both, see you soon boys.

I will save the birth story for the very end, that way those of you who are only interested in pictures, can see your pictures and be spared the delivery details. But to summarize, this delivery was harder, longer, awesome.

Lennox is such an alert baby. He is always observing Gibson, anxious to one day be his partner in crime.

And I turned 27 this year. Q surprised me with SYTYCD Season 7 live tour tickets! My cabin fever officially broke! My friend Heather got to be my date and Brooke treated me to dinner before the show. These girls are true friends, both of these ladies share the same misfortune in seeing me half naked hooked up to my breast pump. Not a pretty sight.
Heather is pensive during the contemporary pieces. She was such a fun date I hope she knows that. I've always thought that she should try out for the show. As should Lacy Chaffee, that's right I singled you out Lace, you Season 5 winner look-a-like & dance-a-like!

Phoenix was the very last stop of their tour so the dancers broke away from the outlined performance which was way fun and they did a lot more ad lib.
Favorite dance of the night, hands down the disco routine by choreographer Doriana Sanchez. The disco routines for the show are insane, I do believe you have to be superhuman to perform them, and if you are noticing the dancers here not wearing much, they in fact are not. Poor Billy Bell, he did not have the same shirtless effect as my Season 7 fave...

And now that we have come to the picture of the disco ball, we have just about come full circle with this post. So those of you who aren't birth story junkies, you may stop reading here (X)

Lennox was due to arrive the 17th. Since I don't dig the thought of a numb, chemical labor, I got a bit nervous as I sailed past the 17th with zero contractions. All the way up to Monday the 20th I worked, doing massage, Pilates, yoga, swimming. My friend Jen Lindsay gave me a massage about 11am that morning. Around 2pm I had my first round of contractions- finally!

Around 3pm they got a bit heavier and I decided my errands were over for the day, no more driving, and called Q to give the heads up.

Around 4 my sister Jazz came over to see if she could help with anything, so she mopped my floor. When Q got home we all played Sequence and other card games to kill some time.

Around 6:00 I started to pack my hospital bag.

We got in the car and headed to the hospital @ 7.

Quinton was nearly choked to death @ 7:10 when he chose to take one lane, under construction, 25mph side streets instead of the freeway.

I checked in @ 7:30pm

As I walked into my delivery room, my water broke.

About 8:30pm I finished taking a shower and my Dr. came in as I weathered some on & off back labor.

9:30 pm my fever broke and I could literally hear within the walls of my body, what sounded like my sacrum and hip bones splinter as my baby dropped into position.

Go-time!

Pushing began, I naturally got a few restful breaks, told Quinton to just ShutUp! even though he hadn't said anything and then @ 9:51 Lennox was out and in my arms.

10pm delivered my placenta, which oddly enough is my favorite part because it feels fantastic and I am already holding my baby. Although the placenta is an odd looking organ and most are disgusted by it, I am so grateful and amazed by it. I don't think it's fair that it gets hucked in the trash so soon, alas it is the only organ in the body that has a birth, a life, and a death. In addition to my tangent on placenta trivia, the placenta is made up of 50% of the mother's cells and 50% of the baby's cells. A basic understanding of organ donation will confirm that it's a miracle that the body doesn't reject the organ or the baby it's nourishing.

Well there's my seasonal post. And that's my birth story and I'm sticking to it.

While You Were Baking...

This has been a pretty cozy pregnancy. Zero complaints. I just want to journal some happenings while this little boy has been baking in my belly.

Dear baby,

You were in tow while our fam made 2 big trips to the snow; Showlow,AZ, Salt Lake and Midway, UT... however mom lost the camera with said photos while snowboarding down the Heavenly run @ Snowbird in Utah. :-(

Fortunately we salvaged this one of Gibson who L-O-V-E loves the snow. You had me craving high caloric food like the INFERNO Burger at the Snowbird Lodge. According to me, snowboarding and spa are a marriage you don't ever try to separate, I always save enough money for both, or it's nothing at all. Being pregnant with you added to my need for pampering, thanks dude.

I got my hours in for antigravityyoga. I stopped the major inversions about 2 weeks ago. You let me train much longer than I thought I'd be able to.

I relished my snuggles with Gibson. He won't be the baby for much longer...

We went to San Antonio for Easter and cousin Maile's birthday. Fondue night was most excellent.

In an attempt to offset all the pie eating I did @ Passion for Pies we walked a bit but too many photo opps make it hard to reach a target heart rate.

We survived off of cold cereal this summer. If I could choose one standout food I craved with Gibson, I'd have to say pumpkin this & pumpkin that. With you, there was the hamburger phase, the rhubarb pie phase, and overall I drank more raw milk than water this pregnancy.

It's been a cuddly, calm wait for you. We've been so blessed with lots of R&R and can't wait to meet you little one! It's funny to hear Gibson spell your name randomly throughout the day. Come on now & get here when you get here!

The latest with our lives. Within 30 days, we celebrated Gibson's 2nd birthday, went on a week long vacay to Utah (lots of snowboarding, spa, friends, and food. (Unfortunately, Kara lost another camera in Utah on Snowbird Mountain.) Kara was given her dream calling as primary chorister and then was promptly released as they realized it was a huge mistake. (kids were crying to be saved from her tyranny and incessant posture lectures) Actually, truth be told. We moved to Mesa and are renting our home to good friends of ours for about 2yrs. So our ward wouldn't give us a boundary exception. At least that's what the bishopric's story has been.

Still unpacking and trying to unload this guy:

I'm gonna let the world know what I, Kara Jones, eldest of 5 girls, think of camping; -through the mouth of Jim Gaffigan.
Well said, Standing Ovation, Encore, thank you Jim for helping Quinton to understand where I'm coming from.
If I'm forced to go camping, I'll hike for exercise, I'll sleep (the +/- ions are always good) and I'll eat. But NOTHING ELSE.
This trip I didn't pack my suitcase, i didn't drive, I didn't help set up the tent, I didn't help build a fire, I didn't help cook, I didn't help clean up, I didn't help pack the car back up, and I certainly didn't unload the car. But I did do the dirty laundry cuz that camping smell has no place in my home.

Gibson loves camping, slept so well & all night! He was mesmerized by the campfire. He loved having Moby to explore the creek with.

So those of you that r looking to do a weekend get-away of the "camping nature" with the Jones' feel free to UN-invite me, no hard feelings, I understand. I'll go to the spa and sleep in my cozy bed, take a hot shower/ use a flushing toilet. You can burn your vacay days sleeping on the ground, getting dirty, then trying to find somewhere to wash your hands- knock yourselves out.

P.S. Q is in the market for an interim camping wife. All potential candidates may post your comments here detailing your qualifications.

If You're a Snowbird from Beautiful British Columbia, What Are U Doing in Arizona?

Okay, enough of the heat, enough of the harassment about being a lame blogger, it's time to showcase our trip to Whistler.

This is the view from our room.

Prior to hitting the slopes I do my yoga & get some gear @ Lululemon.

If you're a loyal "Office" fan, you saw this coming a million miles away...
(if you have no clue what I'm talking about, make sure to leave a comment in regards to the pic and I'll be sure to Not invite you to our Office Trivia soiree)

Quinton cooked up some bacon (bleh) and I took the liberty of wrapping up the leftover slices and feeding them to dogs around the village. Moby wasn't around & I waste not.

This was the gondola that went up Whistler mountain, 4 days later, one of the lifts off the neighboring Blackcomb gondola would come crashing down. No fatalities thank heaven.

Quinton is lightning fast. He was willing and oh so sweet to go 100 yds, wait for me to catch up, then disappear back into the fog. I did get braver with the practice.

Crisp. Clean. Clear. Cold Canadian Rockies.

Loved the hot tubs here at the lodge...no pics, sorry.

Some say stupid, I say dedicated, Quinton boarded his butt off with cracked ribs and a fractured shoulder blade. Next time he wants to do the helicopter drop (only after he gets a life insurance policy)

We missed the grand opening of this ride by 6 hours. Guess we gotta go back.

Gibson hung out with Grandmapa Durney and his aunties, plus Meghan my cousin while we were gone for the week, here we are looking a little anxious to see our little dude.
We're excited to get his EXPENSIVE feet in snowboard boots asap. (hope he's half as good as Ketsy's boy, Rune)

As much as I loved this matching mom&stroller ensemble, I'd look ridiculous sporting it even on the coldest day in AZ

This is me, tired & ready to get back to Gibson.
Me and Q fought out a few paper rock scissor rounds to see who got to hold and cuddle with him first.

Just FYI if you go to Whistler:

Get ready to hear remakes of every american pop song.
Solarice Spa, request Emily if you get a facial- she's fantastic!
It does a body good to get a massage after 3 days of boarding, mine was luxurious!
There are mostly Aussies on the mountain, Aussies everywhere!
Try to hit up the Costco in Vancouver, you'll save $ on food, like i wish we had.
Canadians really don't like their health care system... I'm gonna hold myself back and make no further comment
You can sell your lift ticket to locals who can't afford the season pass and just want to hit the slopes for an hour or two... $20-$30 bucks...reinvested back to Solarice Spa...
Alkali lake is not very far from the resort. That's for you X-Men fans out there.
You do not need a car at all if you are staying in Whistler Village, everything is walking distance.
Incase you don't already know, don't even think about Whistler for winter 09' the Olympics will be there.
Funny story/ golden info: Q and I were having a 2nd honeymoon kind of a time when all of a sudden the fire alarm for the lodge went off. We scrambled for our warm clothes, passports, laptop, money, snacks, phones, phone chargers, boots... can you picture it? It was such a joke, probably took us 10 min to get the heck out of our room. (Dwight would've been gravely disappointed) So word to the wise, have your necessary things that will get you back to America, altogether in one place. Thank goodness there was no actual fire, but boy did we look ridiculous being the last people in the lobby with all the crap we had. As if my cell phone, let alone the charger, was worth my life.... sheesh.

Shabby Apple Contest

The story behind this noble looking ensemble all started with an 18 month relationship with a former boyfriend, that was terminated via email. Yes, you read it right. I was dumped via-e-mail!
So those of you who've ever been dumped via- text message, via- "post-it" note, and for you "Office" fans out there (when Michael broke up with Jan via-voicemail)...you know what I'm talking about. What the crap!
I moved to NY shortly thereafter to do a Pilates apprenticeship and lived there 4 months. I didn't turn to Rx drugs, junk food, heavy partying and alcohol, or romantic comedies. (not that romantic comedies aren't a good launch point for recooperating yourself esteem after a lousy break-up.) I turned to fine clothing, shoes, & accessories-things that enhanced and empowered me.
Had Shabby Apple been an option then, this is EXACTLY what I would've bought. This vignette describes my search in getting little pieces of my soul back. You put on a dress like this and you KNOW you're worth an in-person break-up.

To get everyone current, I am happily married to Q, and my 10 month-old, Gibson, what a gift from God.
I'll forever be proud of myself for choosing to remember my spirit, my Creator, my worth.

We know that it is November, but we thought it is better late than never to post our Summer vacation.

This is Isabella's on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. This is an Italian favorite of ours.

Gibson had a blast playing with cousin Mimi.

Abe (Mimi's husband) made quick friends with Gibson over a half pint.

Kara and I had plenty of fights over who got the hammock to themselves. Gibson won.

New York was Gibson's first vacation and his solid foods debut.

We really enjoyed taking the SI Ferry into the city. Out of the 10 day visit, we probably rode the ferry a dozen times.

The Ferry ride after going to the Manhattan Temple. The sun setting coupled with the city fading into the fog is a favorite of ours.

We got to see the Statue of Liberty every time we rode.

Our favorite day in New York, hands down, was spent on the beach in the Hamptons.

Gibson needed to recoup after a tough battle with the Atlantic.

We definitely crammed a lot of stuff into our vacation, but it was all worth it. Gibson was a good sport for all of the hussle and hooplah. He was even an easy kid on the transcontinental flights.

Gibson Made His First "Father and Son's"

Much to the amazement of the other men in our ward, Gibson headed off with his Dad and Grandpa up to Moqui Draw for a weekend in the woods. He had quite the set up: Pack N' Play, Baby Einstein saucer, and a lot of snacks on Mom's "unapproved list." So of course he had a blast. Gibson could not get enough of sitting around the campfire and walking in the woods.
It was interesting to see the reactions of the other Dads there when I took over the fire to warm up G.Q.'s breast milk.

When we were done bathing Gibson when he was only a few weeks old, he kept giving his dad this look like he thought he was a some model for "GQ." Which, of course, he is. So we indulged his ego and took a few pictures.

So Gibson has let it go to his head that he is a snowboarder already. Now he's asking if we are cool with him getting a tattoo and dreadlocks. Obviously we said yes.
Actually he has become quite accustomed to his brace and doesn't know that the rest of us can move our legs independently from each other. So we have been very consistent about not leaving it off for more than a second or two.

Since my father only hit one homerun and Kara's family was a big girl factory, we were a little curious to see if genetics would allow the continuation of the Jones name. I am happy to report that the seed is pure.
